This is an artist's impression of the proposed PAGCOR Tower to be erected within the PAGCOR Entertainment City near the SM Mall of Asia. Upon completion it will be the tallest tower in the world with a height of more than 650 meters. Many might confuse the tallest tower from the tallest building, it's not the same banana. Currently, the CN Tower in Toronto, Canada is the world's tallest tower with a height of 553 meters.
A tower differs from a building in the sense that buildings have floors and is designed for residential, business or manufacturing use. The world's tallest towers are principally telecommunication towers and while they may have observation decks or restaurants, they do not have floors all the way up. I have been to the 5th tallest tower in the world, the Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower in Malaysia, and I love its revolving restaurant which serves daily buffet dinners.
The PAGCOR Entertainment City complex will be built in three phases on 800 hectares of reclaimed land. The first phase will host a hotel-resort and a theme park. The next two phases will have retirement villages and entertainment centers. Almost 90 percent of the funds for the project will come from foreign investors. Other funders from Japan, Europe and U.S. and South Korea have also signified interest in financing the project.

Well, I guess our own tower will be pushed out from the top 5 tallest once this beast is erected!
wow napaka futuristic naman. I guess they have all the money to spare ;)
@ carlota: I can't wait na nga eh, sana matapos na agad ito
@ share my point of view: You should come here in Manila to see this tower in the future.
@ allan barredo: Yup, parang nasa sci-fi movie lang ;)
Haha. I did a post on this one too and yup medyo hesitant akong paniwalaan to noong una but upon knowing that foreign investors would be funding this project, may katotohanan naman pala. I hope this would be as grand as the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai. Have you seen pictures of it? Whoah!
i saw this in the latest TIME issue. it's believe to bee the tallest in the world as you have mentioned here too.
excited na akong makita yan. finally may tallest na tayo na tower.
wow! what's in it for PAGCOR? kikita ba ang project na ito? sure this is going to be a nice structure for the Manila skyline. i'm just not sure if we are ready for lavish expenditures like.
Woww..that would be pretty cool when it happens :)
Very interesting. These tall buildings really amazed me. Like the top of the world's feeling. Thanks for dropping by my blog. :)
@ jowell: It is good that the government has nothing to do with this so there will be less controversy about this project.
@ the dong: Me too, I'm so excited for this to be finished.
@ r-yo: Well, I know this will be a good project. Never naman nalulugi ang isang casino-themed project.
@ rintjez: Can't wait for 2012 for this project to be finished.
@ alicesg: I have a fascination too for tall buildings :)
ok ung plano pero sana wag kurakutin ung pampagawa para di gumuho sa kaunting lindol lang...
that would be grand pag nagkatotoo. parang may hawig sya sa tower ng seattle no?
That is quite a project ! This will be huge...and hopefully generate the needed jobs and tourist inflow.
World class!
Another tourist attraction. hehe!
Sana mapuntahan ko yan pag natapos. Kelan kaya un? :D
@ nicely: Mukhang marami naman pera ang pagcor kaya it would be world class naman ;)
@ lawstude: Oo nga atty. yun din ang naisip ko
@ sidney: I hope that because of this the Philippines would be a household name for travelers.
@ ces: Sa 2012 ang target completion date. Sana wala mga delays.
i hope this monstrousity is quake proof! It's gonna be a major source of pinoy pride, but if it fails, it will be a shame too. I hope to see this featured in National Geographic's Frontlines of Construction shows soon!
atlast malalagay nnmn tayo sa mapa but just recently lang nag launch nnmn ng bagong tower sa dubai which is taller than burj dubai sana lang mauna tong pagcor para atleast naman may tallest tower tayong maipagmalaki.
@ the spool artist: Yeah, I hope it will be featured in "Megastructures"
@ travelphilippines: It's time for the Philippines to shine
wow----my fist time to see the masterplan. The only thing I herard is that it will be located near MOA. sana matuloy to. It's about time we have an observation tower of our own. This will definitely change the landscape of Manila. go go. Pilipinas, umasenso ka!!!
Seems the tower will be near NAIA, would be near for a plane to hit, ha ha!
I've heard a nephew of my wife mention something about this, but the way he mentioned it sounded like it has already been built, so I brushed the thought off thinking that he's just imagining things. Besides, he never mentioned about it being the tallest, or at least one of the tallest. He's 12 years old I think. Other than that, I've never heard of anything about this until now.
This is simply amazing! I can't wait to see it, but then it's still 3 to 4 years away...
susubaybayan ko to... :) Blog material!!! hahaha!
oriental pearl tower lang napuntahan ko. hehe. hindi ba mas mataas na yung bagong world financial center sa shanghai dun?
